Attention Deficit Disorder & Chiropractic
July 31, 2008
In the
last week I have had a couple of my patients ask me
about Attention Deficit Disorder and if Chiropractic
care could help. As a chiropractor many people do not
understand that we treat much more than back pain or
headaches, but essentially treat the nervous system.
So my answer to their question is yes chiropractic
care can and will help their child with Attention
Deficit Disorder or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity
Disorder. Children and Adults with ADD experience a
decrease in dopamine secretion within the brain.
Individuals with ADD or ADHD show abnormal function
of their frontal lobes and pleasure center within
their brain. People with ADD or ADHD require high
levels of stimulations due to the decrease in
dopamine secretion.
Research has shown that chiropractic care and a modified diet have decreased the symptoms of ADD and ADHD to the point of non-existence. Chiropractic care works at restoring the nerve flow to the brain allowing the brain to function at higher levels allowing the dopamine to be secreted at normal levels. In conjunction with Chiropractic care it is also very important to modify the individuals diet. A diet that is rich in fruits and vegetables, nutrients and omega 3 fatty acids is very effective at treating individuals naturally.
So my question for you is do you have ADD or ADHD or do you know someone who has this condition and are taking drugs daily to cope with the symptoms? If you do please refer them in for a FREE consultation.
